To help support our neighbors throughout all stages of life, we have developed a full array of services for older adults that includes wellness activities and health education; housing and supportive services; access to medical and rehabilitative care; social adult day programs; providing meals to those who need them; and long-term care. These services are a part of Lutheran HealthCare's commitment to helping community members stay healthy and active as they age. Services include:
Sunset Park Community Center for Older Adults

Sunset Park Community Center for Older Adults provides hot nutritious meals and recreational activities to more than 100 older adults, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. located at 4520 4th Avenue. Older adults who attend the senior center are also offered the opportunity to participate in educational and recreational activities such as English for Speakers of Other Languages, immigration counseling, yoga, entitlement counseling, health education, computer classes, walking club monthly trips, and arts and crafts.
Adult Day Program
Seniors in Touch is a social adult day program in the Bay Ridge community. Seniors in Touch operates out of Shore Hill Housing Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This program fosters independence and socialization by providing art-oriented activities to seniors who are frail and socially isolated. Yoga, tai chi and gentle exercises are part of the program. A hot nutritional meal is provided along with morning and afternoon snacks. Transportation is provided by the program through the use of a handicapped-accessible Para transit vehicle. Nominal participant contribution is requested.
Bay Ridge on the Move (BROM)is a fixed-route transportation service providing seniors with easier access to neighborhood shopping, medical appointments, visits with family and friends. BROM operates Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Care Giver Support and Resource Services
Weekly support groups and educational workshops are offered for individuals caring for older adults in the community.
Service Coordinators helps seniors in our housing sites continue to live independently, providing information and referral, advocacy services, and assistance working with building management around issues that may affect a tenant's ability to age in place.
