LHC is a major teaching affiliate of the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn, and is a cardiac care affiliate with Mount Sinai. In addition to the medical center, Lutheran HealthCare includes: the Lutheran Augustana Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation, a 240-bed skilled nursing facility; Community Care Organization, Inc., a licensed home health agency; and Health Plus, a managed care plan for Medicaid, Child Health Plus and Family Health Plus recipients. Last year, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Administration (HHSA) awarded Lutheran Medical Center $3.2 million to help reduce HIV infections.
