Mission Week 2014: Rooted in Faith…Growing in Mission
NYU Lutheran will kick off its annual Mission Week celebration with a special dedication of the new Sister Elisabeth Fedde Heritage Gallery, named in honor of Sister Fedde, the founder of the Norwegian Relief Society, which has transformed over the years into NYU Lutheran. Through artifacts, photos and signage, the gallery chronicles the Sister Fedde's earliest days in southwest Brooklyn and pays tribute to the visionaries who made her work possible.
A brief dedication ceremony and speaking program will feature leadership from NYU Lutheran and the Metropolitan New York Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Following the dedication, a traditional Norwegian heritage party known as Festpill will take place in the hospital's main lobby. The event will be held on February 25, as that day will mark the 93rd anniversary of Sister Fedde's passing, which is commemorated by the ELCA each year.
