Lutheran Family Health Centers provided patients a dose of thanks last week in celebration of National Patient Recognition Week. The week, which ran from February 4 to 7, kicked off at Lutheran HealthCare's Sunset Park Family Health Center for Women and Children. Larry McReynolds, LFHC president, started the event with a welcome, followed by Reverend Dr. Samuel Fook Wong, chair of LFHC Board of Trustees. Remarks were made by LFHC site directors, Claudette Richardson and Anne-Marie Sabella, including Otis Lewis, clinical manager of LFHC's Department of Dental Medicine. In addition, a brief address was delivered by Ana Maria Cruz, district director for N.Y.C. Councilmember Carlos Menchaca. Five patients were recognized for being long-time patients at LFHC and being compliant with their medical care. Patients in attendance received LFHC medical home backpacks and were given the opportunity to win raffle prizes.
Participating LFHC sites including Brooklyn-Chinese, Caribbean-American, Family Physician, Park Ridge, Park Slope, Shore Road, Sunset Park, and Sunset Terrace, also took part in the week honoring their patients with giveaways and thank you cards. In total, 27 patients were recognized by LFHC. Special thanks to HealthPlus Amerigroup for donating goodie bags.
