March 5, 2013, Brooklyn, NY…Lutheran HealthCare is proud to announce that Kevin Fitzpatrick, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., has been selected to serve as senior vice president of Women's Health, and chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology for the Lutheran HealthCare system.
In his new role, Dr. Fitzpatrick will provide oversight for administration, clinical operations, teaching, and research for the newly conceived service line. He will establish strong partnerships linking Women's Health across the Lutheran continuum from outpatient to inpatient settings, which include Lutheran Family Health Centers, Lutheran Medical Center and Lutheran Augustana Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation.
Prior to coming to Lutheran, Dr. Fitzpatrick was chief of Obstetrics/Gynecology at Kaleida Health, a large five hospital health system in Buffalo, NY. As chief, he managed and supervised nearly 100 staff physicians, the system's outpatient facilities, and two labor and delivery units. In addition, Dr. Fitzpatrick focused heavily on quality improvement, risk management and the establishment of evidence based care plans and electronic medical record integration (EMR).
During his final years in Buffalo, Dr. Fitzpatrick was instrumental in leading a physician-led plan for the construction of a state-of-the-art women and children's hospital in Western New York. Dr. Fitzpatrick is a long time Buffalo resident who attended Canisius College and the State University of New York at Buffalo. He earned his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine. He is a member of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Society of OB/GYN Hospitalists. He is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
As an active member of the medical community Dr. Fitzpatrick has authored and co-authored a wide variety of journal articles and is a medical mission volunteer having served as a visiting surgeon in Ghana and in the Dominican Republic.
