Lutheran HealthCare (LHC) and its board of trustees are proud to announce its 126th Anniversary Dinner Dance major corporate honoree, Michael J. Doyle, president and CEO, Medsphere Systems Corporation. The gala will also honor LHC's own Sampath R. Kumar, M.D. The annual event raises much-needed dollars for LHC health programs and community services.
"Mr. Doyle is a proven thought leader who has excelled at creating value for his investors, specifically in health care technology," said Wendy Z. Goldstein, president and CEO. "As a distinguished entrepreneur and chief executive, we are very pleased to honor him for his commitment to health care, and his help in bringing improved efficiency and safety to health care through Medsphere's electronic medical record system."
Lutheran will host its 126th Anniversary Dinner Dance at Manhattan's Chelsea Piers (23rd Street and the Hudson River) on May 9. As the Brooklyn based health system's primary fundraiser, the black tie event will help raise critical funds for a new state-of-the-art intensive care unit (ICU). The Motown themed event includes a silent auction with spotlight items: a one of a kind experience on the set of "Gossip Girl," a special New Jersey Nets VIP basketball night and dinner for four, a Nets live center court package for kids, Aretha Franklin concert tickets, vacation properties and get-aways in Paris and London, sports memorabilia and tickets, designer jewelry and much more.
"It is truly an honor to be recognized by Lutheran HealthCare, an organization that demonstrates leadership and an enduring commitment to delivering exceptional care to the community," said Doyle. "This award recognizes the efforts of everyone at Medsphere, and I am proud to accept it on behalf of the company. We believe that combining the latest in proven technology with highly trained and compassionate physicians, nurses, and other care givers is a winning strategy. Lutheran is a pioneer in weaving together quality health care and effective technology for the benefit of patients and the community; Medsphere is proud to contribute to this effort."
Under Mr. Doyle's leadership, Medsphere has become a leading innovator in information technology applications, significantly and positively impacting the way health care institutions enhance patient safety, improve clinical efficiency and increase quality of care. The California company's primary platform, OpenVista, is a portfolio of products and professional services for hospitals and clinics based on the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' proven VistA electronic health record. More than 20,000 health care providers including 2,500 physicians are currently using OpenVista to manage hundreds of thousands of medical records.
Driven by an all-star cast, last year's event featured celebrity special guests David Brenner, Sopranos star Tony Sirico, and NBA legends Darryl Dawkins and Albert King. With 850 partygoers the event raised $1.25 million.
