BLACK TIE CASINO NIGHT:127TH ANNIVERSARY DINNER DANCE, MAY 8

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BLACK TIE CASINO NIGHT: 127TH ANNIVERSARY DINNER DANCE SET FOR MAY 8
Proceeds to benefit EMR implementation

February 19, 2010, Brooklyn, NY…Lutheran HealthCare and its Board of Trustees are proud to announce plans for the 127th Anniversary Dinner Dance. The Casino Night themed black tie affair is Lutheran HealthCare's primary fundraiser. The annual gala will be held at a new location this year, the Grand Hyatt New York (109 East 42nd Street and Grand Central Terminal) on Saturday, May 8.

The proceeds of the event will go towards the implementation of the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system, which will further enhance Lutheran's mission of serving the needs of our neighbors. The hospital-wide EMR system will significantly and positively impact patient safety, clinical efficiency and overall quality of care.

In addition to raising much needed funds, the Annual Dinner Dance celebrates Lutheran's 127-year legacy of providing quality care to the communities of Brooklyn and honors special individuals who have made tremendous contributions to Lutheran and the patients we serve. This year's event will highlight Robert A. Zaloom, M.D., director of the May Ellen and Gerald Ritter Diagnostic Cardiology Center as the Physician Honoree, and ARAMARK Healthcare as the Corporate Honoree. Honorees will receive the Sister Elisabeth Fedde (Lutheran HealthCare founder, 1883) Medal of Service, established to recognize individuals who continue her legacy of service and commitment to serving the needs of our neighbors.

Dr. Zaloom has dedicated his career to providing cardiac care to the residents of Brooklyn for more than twenty years maintaining a successful practice in Bay Ridge and serving at Lutheran Medical Center. The crowning achievement of his career was the opening of the May Ellen and Gerald Ritter Diagnostic Cardiology Center in 2005. Most recently, the center has received both FDNY STEMI Center and New York State designations to perform emergency and elective angioplasty, making it a full service cardiac center.

Since 2002, Lutheran has partnered with ARAMARK in providing the highest quality health care in the best possible environment. ARAMARK has undertaken a number of quality initiatives during their tenure at Lutheran including the recent full renovation of the cafeteria, the implementation of the ISIS Pro system, a high tech patient transport tracking system, and the completion of a full-scale waste management system that enhanced our recycling program.

Last year's event featured celebrity special guests including Sopranos star, Tony Sirico and local elected officials and was attended by nearly 900 partygoers who helped raise nearly $1.2 million for a new ICU.
