WILLIAM WIRCHANSKY, M.D., JOINS LUTHERAN MEDICAL CENTER AS ITS NEWEST NEUROSURGEON
March 12, 2010, Brooklyn, New York
Lutheran Medical Center (LMC) has selected neurosurgeon William Wirchansky to join its growing surgical services department. 
Dr. Wirchansky recently completed a neurosurgery residency-training program at the University of Maryland Medical Center. The comprehensive seven-year residency program at UMMC also includes a six-month rotation at Maryland's renowned Shock Trauma Center. He specializes in head/spine trauma, tumors and degenerative spine diseases.
Dr. Wirchansky earned a bachelor's of science degree in biochemistry from Manhattan College, and his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. He also has considerable undergraduate background in research at NYU, Manhattan College, and the Ciba-Geigy Corporation. While at Manhattan College, he was awarded a Howard Hughes research grant to study cyclic AMP signaling in astrocytes.
