LHC ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO ITS BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Emma Graeber Porter named chair, new executive board members appointed

April 6, 2010, Brooklyn, New York…Lutheran HealthCare is pleased to announce that Emma Graeber Porter, president and founder, Graeber Consulting, has been elected as the new chair of the LHC Board of Trustees. Porter will be replacing Thomas J. Edwards, president and CEO, Helen Keller Services for the Blind, who has served for the last three years.

Porter has served on the LHC Board of Trustees for 19 years and has extensive experience serving on non-profit boards. In addition to LHC, she currently serves on the boards of Lutheran World Relief, the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, the Bethlehem Fund and Luther College. Porter is past chair of both the Board of Pensions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and the Mission Investment Fund of the ELCA in Chicago. She has also served on the boards of the Wartburg Home, LSS of Metro New York, the Advisory Committee for Corporate Social Responsibly of the ELCA in Chicago and Seafarers & International House. In her corporate role, Porter has over 25 years of professional consulting experience with a strong focus in Healthcare IT integration and data conversion of clinical and financial data. (Edwards, who remains an active member of the board, has served for over 30 years and also served as chairman of the board of Lutheran Augustana Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation. Edwards is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Health Plus.)

"The Board of Trustees continues to ensure that Lutheran's 127-year legacy of providing high-quality health care and support services to the communities of southwest and central Brooklyn remains strong and stays consistent with an ever-changing patient population," says Porter. "I am thrilled to take on this new responsibility and look forward to leading the board as Lutheran continues to grow."

In addition, several members of the board have taken on new roles. Gerald Luterman, interim chief financial officer for NRG Energy, Inc., and Martha Wolfgang, will now serve as vice chairs. Miriam Katowitz, chief operating officer of the Educational Alliance, will now serve as treasurer and Vincent Rohan, president of the May Ellen and Gerald Ritter Foundation, will serve as assistant treasurer. Brenda Grandell, director of closed-end funds at Legg Mason, has been elected secretary and Frank Comerford, president of platform development and commercial operations for NBC Local Media Division, will serve as assistant secretary.

The Board of Trustees has announced two new members: Lawrence DiGiovanna, principal attorney, Law Offices of Lawrence F. DiGiovanna, and Rev. David Rommereim, pastor of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. Marilyn Gulin Santamauro, R.N. has retired from the board after serving 19 years.
