NYPD COMMISSIONER KELLY PAYS TRIBUTE TO LMC STAFF
Police Commissioner thanks medical staff for life-saving care of officer
June 18, 2010, Brooklyn, NY...NYPD Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly made a special visit to Lutheran Medical Center to thank its staff and present a plaque for the hospitals life-saving care of police officer Carlos Olmedo. Officer Olmedo, who was critically injured on May 16, was taken to Lutheran's Level 1 Trauma Center in the early morning hours. The plaque reads: "To the staff of Lutheran Medical Center, with deep gratitude for their life-saving care of police officer Carlos Olmedo." Additionally, Commissioner Kelly reported that he is making considerable progress!
Throughout his stay, officer Olmedo received an outpouring of support from the community and NYPD colleagues, especially at a prayer vigil held at LMC on May 18.
