LHC'S FARMER'S MARKET RETURNS, BRINGING AFFORDABLE, HEALTHY OPTIONS TO SUNSET PARK RESIDENTS
Harvest Home Lutheran Farmer's Market now held weekly on Lutheran Lane

WHAT:         Lutheran HealthCare and Harvest Home Farmer's Market, Inc. will reopen its farmer's market for the second year. The open-air market, which was a huge success last year, features farm fresh vegetables, seasonal fruits, organic baked goods, ethnic products and more from N.Y. area farmers. Additionally, the Lutheran market offers health information and screenings. To help increase access, the market is approved to redeem most meal and benefit programs like WIC Farmer's Market, EBT and Seniors Farmer's Market.

WHERE:     Lutheran Lane (55th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues)

WHEN:     The market will open on July 8 and be held every Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through November 18.


Lutheran's farmer's market is part of a larger effort to "go green" across the Lutheran family. In 2008, LHC created a system wide Green Team to assist its facilities in operating in an environmentally sound manner. Most recently, LHC completed a lighting retrofit which will save approximately $180,000 annually in energy costs and reduce its carbon footprint by 1.8 million pounds per year.
