LMC APPOINTS ALAN SICKLES, M.D., COORDINATOR, BREAST SURGERY PROGRAM
Former LMC intern and resident resumes full-time position at hospital
February 7, 2011, Brooklyn, NY…Lutheran Medical Center (LMC) is proud to announce the full-time return of Alan Sickles, M.D., as coordinator, Breast Surgery Program. 
Dr. Sickles has a long history here, as he completed his internship and residency at LMC from 1981 through 1985, served as chief resident, Surgery, until 1986, and has been a part-time attending surgeon since 1988. Most recently, Dr. Sickles has served as a breast surgeon at St. Vincent's and Beth Israel. Prior to that, Dr. Sickles was SVP and CMO at Cabrini Medical Center until its closing in 2008.
"We are thrilled to be welcoming Dr. Sickles back to LMC on a full-time basis," explained Claudia Caine, COO, LMC. "His return to Lutheran is a testament to the community we have built here. Throughout his established career, Dr. Sickles has practiced at a number of hospitals and medical centers and has chosen to return to Lutheran to take on a role of this magnitude."
Dr. Sickles is a widely published author, active lecturer and has served as a visiting professor at universities around the world. Dr. Sickles received his doctorate from the University of Dominica and his undergraduate degree from Boston University.
Lutheran Medical Center's Breast Surgery Program seeks to create a coordinated and multi-disciplinary approach through a combination of radiology, pathology and radiation therapy. In addition, LMC's Breast Surgery Program works closely with the Lutheran Family Health Centers network to ensure that services are made widely available throughout the Brooklyn community.
