April 11, 2011, Brooklyn, NY
Lutheran HealthCare (LHC) and its Board of Trustees will host the 128th Anniversary Dinner Dance on May 7 at the Marriott Marquis. As LHC's primary fundraiser, the annual event celebrates Lutheran's 128-year legacy of providing quality care in Brooklyn and also honors special individuals who have made tremendous contributions to Lutheran and the patients its serves. Proceeds will benefit the upgrade of the ICU.
This year's event will highlight Anthony L. DiMango, D.D.S, chair, Dentistry, and director, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, who will receive the Sister Elisabeth Fedde Medal of Service. Named after LHC's foundress in 1883, the award was established to recognize individuals who continue her legacy of service and commitment to meeting the needs of our neighbors.
Dr. DiMango has been a member of the Lutheran family for over fifty years. He is a leader in his profession with a long career of service and dedication to his patients, the dental profession and our community. His commitment continues to this very day through his teaching of Lutheran's oral surgery and general practice residents.
After graduating from Fordham University, Dr. DiMango attended Georgetown University's School of Dentistry. He went on to become a diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and an associate professor of oral surgery at Columbia University, in addition to his career at Lutheran. Dr. DiMango has received the New York State Dental Association (NYSDA) Distinguished Service Award and was honored by the Second District Dental Society with its highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award. He is a fellow of the American and International College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the New York Academy of Dentistry.
He has served on several NYSDA councils and is a past chair of its Council on Annual Sessions. Dr. DiMango has been a delegate to the American Dental Association (ADA) representing New York State and was First Vice President of the ADA. As chair of the ADA Council on Annual Sessions and International Relations, he developed Health Volunteers Overseas, a program that allows dentists to volunteer their services in underdeveloped countries.
In addition to Dr. DiMango, as the physician honoree, this event will recognize Frenkel & Company as the corporate honoree, and Wendy Z. Goldstein, on ten years as president and CEO of Lutheran HealthCare.
