LFHC CELEBRATES BROOKLYN-CHINESE FAMILY HEALTH CENTER WITH DONOR APPRECIATION & COMMUNITY OPEN HOUSE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LFHC CELEBRATES BROOKLYN-CHINESE FAMILY HEALTH CENTER WITH DONOR APPRECIATION AND COMMUNITY OPEN HOUSE

June 15, 2011, Brooklyn, NY…
On June 15, Lutheran Family Health Centers (LFHC) hosted a donor appreciation ceremony and community open house to celebrate the opening this year of its newest community health center, the Brooklyn-Chinese Family Health Center. The open house was attended by LFHC executives; members of the Sunset Park Health Council, its governing board; Lutheran HealthCare President and CEO, Wendy Z. Goldstein; Kings County District Attorney Charles Hynes; Brooklyn Deputy Borough President Yvonne Graham, community leaders, numerous elected officials, and the site's lead donors (listed below).

"We are very grateful for the support of our generous donors and elected officials in this endeavor," said Rev. Samuel Fook Wong, president, Sunset Park Health Council, Inc. "This larger, and much newer, health center site allows us to increase access to health services that also reflect the community's culture. The site is a testament to Lutheran's unique approach to cultural competency."

LFHC opened the doors of its Brooklyn-Chinese FHC earlier this spring. In order to accommodate a significant increase in the demand for services, the Brooklyn-Chinese Family Health Center now occupies a 10,000 plus square foot location at 5008 7th Avenue in the heart of Brooklyn's Chinatown. The new site, which broke ground in October 2010, is twice the size of its predecessor and offers substantially more clinical space to provide adequate health care services. It features ten exam rooms, a rehabilitation gym, a dental area with four dental chairs, medical offices and conference rooms. The expanded space also allows for an increase in staff to over 30 full-time health care workers.

The Brooklyn-Chinese Family Health Center was established by LFHC to meet the health care needs of the growing Asian population in southwest Brooklyn. For nearly ten years the center has been a leader in providing high-quality, affordable and culturally competent health care to the Asian-American community.

Lead donors include King Fook Funeral Services, LLC; Manning's 8th Avenue Pharmacy, Inc., Magnacare, LLC, and Sunrise Medical Laboratories, Inc. Additional sponsors include Delta Dental, Bay Ridge Medical Imaging, P.C.; IW Pharmacy, Inc.; Wan Sou Funeral Services; RX Circle Pharmacy Corp.; Family First Pharmacy & Surgical Supplies, Inc.; Sinog Medical Associates, P.C., and Comprehensive Care Management Corp.
