CARIBBEAN-AMERICAN FAMILY HEALTH CENTER
Praises LFHC's services and staff
February 05, 2009, Brooklyn, New York…New York State Health Commissioner Richard F. Daines, M.D., recently made a special visit to Lutheran's Caribbean-American Family Health Center. Daines used his visit to the health center to discuss the Department Of Health's agenda for primary care, obesity, lead screening and prenatal care.
Nearly 40 people representing a variety of community agencies throughout Brooklyn attended the informal speaking engagement. Given the economic situation facing New York, the trip was very well received by participants.
"It was an honor to host the commissioner," said Larry McReynolds, executive director, Lutheran Family Health Centers. "Our community health clinics serve a steadily growing population, so it was a great opportunity for us to discuss face-to-face Brooklyn's health care issues with Dr. Daines."
The visit was part of the Commissioner's statewide tour of community based health centers that serve a primarily disadvantaged population.
