As first health care network to register, Lutheran urges local businesses to sign up now



November 2, 2011, Brooklyn, NY…Kings County District Attorney Charles J. Hynes, Lutheran HealthCare and its community partners and agencies, local businesses and community leaders joined together on Tuesday to challenge every Brooklyn organization to register to become a Safe Stop location.

The designation on these Safe Stop facilities creates an added layer of security for community members. The Safe Stop program is an initiative launched by the District Attorney in order to provide a safe place for anyone to go if they need help in case of an emergency.

In reaction to recent sexual assaults, Lutheran has actively participated in efforts to help southwest Brooklyn residents stay safe, learn self-defense and be prepared. Not only was Lutheran Medical Center the first hospital to receive a Safe Stop designation, it registered nine of its community health center sites as well.
