DEPARTMENT FOR THE AGING AND COUNCILMAN VINCENT J. GENTILE CELEBRATE NEW FUNDING AT LFHC'S SHORE HILL SENIOR CENTER
August 7, 2012, Brooklyn, NY
Councilman Vincent J. Gentile and Department for the Aging Assistant Deputy Commissioner, Karen Taylor, attended a celebration recently at Lutheran Family Health Centers' Shore Hill Senior Center to celebrate over $200,000 in funding for the full service neighborhood center. The celebration featured a brief speaking program, followed by a performance by the Shore Hill Choir.
This new funding will assist the program in expanding to a multi-service center enabling older adults to continue to be active members of the community and age in place. Activities and services offered at the center will include health education and wellness services, connectivity to a medical home, hot nutritious meals, creative arts and cultural activities, and education programs. The Shore Hill Neighborhood Center for Older Adults will build upon the current nutrition program that has been operating at Shore Hill for the past two years through the generous support of Councilman Vincent J. Gentile.
