LUTHERAN CELEBRATES NATIONAL HEALTH CENTER WEEK
Celebrating America's Health Centers: Powering Healthier Communities
August 3, 2012, Brooklyn, NY…August 5 to 11 marks National Health Center Week and this year's theme is "Celebrating America's Health Centers: Powering Healthier Communities." Lutheran will be commemorating National Health Center Week with a number of health fairs as well as fun and informational events for patients and staff alike. The following health fair celebrations will be held:
August 7 – Healthy Living Within our Medical Home, hosted by Sunset Park FHC, Lutheran Lane (55th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues), 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring screenings for glucose, blood pressure, dental, vision, hearing, HIV and BMI. Information on immunizations, breast self-exams, rehab, WIC, PCAP, nutrition and fun activities including face painting, zumba demonstrations and wellness games. FDNY, Autism Awareness and NY Public Library will also attend.
August 8 – Lucky Eight Health Fair, hosted by Brooklyn-Chinese FHC and Family Physician FHC, Rainbow Playground (6th Avenue between 55th and 56th Streets), 1 to 4 p.m. Information and screenings for blood pressure, dental and HIV. Activities include a bouncy ride, music and raffles.
August 9 – Let's Move It, hosted by Caribbean-American FHC (3414 Church Avenue), 12 to 4 p.m. Screenings for blood pressure and HIV testing and counseling. Bally's Gym will also provide demonstrations and exercise tips.
August 9 – Keeping our Community Healthy, hosted by Park Ridge FHC, (6317 4th Avenue), 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Screenings for cholesterol, glucose, obstetrics information and pregnancy testing.
August 10 – Educating our Community, hosted by Sunset Terrace FHC, (514 49th Street), 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Event will focus on primary care information, awareness and HIV.
