LFHC will host a Wellness Fair on August 10 in honor of National Health Center Week. The fair will include live cooking demonstrations from Cornell Cooperative Extension, fitness and health insurance information, dental, glucose and blood pressure screenings, raffles, refreshments and more. Lutheran defines health as the total well-being of the community and its residents. That's why we're starting right here, with our employees and neighbors.
The highlight of the event will be a healthy cook-off, brought to you by Lutheran staff. The competition will feature celebrity guest judge, Food Network star and author, Daisy Martinez! Additional judges include chair of the Sunset Park Health Council, Inc., executive director of Health Plus, principal of the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism High School at Erasmus, and executive director of Lutheran Family Health Centers. The grand prize winner will have his or her recipe served in the Lutheran cafeteria for one week, allowing everyone to enjoy the prize-winning taste!
We anticipate that this event will be widely attended by staff and neighbors alike and expect elected officials to join us as well. The goal of this event is to celebrate Lutheran Family Health Centers and National Health Center Week and to increase the availability and knowledge of nutritious foods to those in Southwest Brooklyn.
