Lutheran has a long history of commitment to our community and safety plays a large part in what we do. Thanks to the new Safe Stop program, launched by the DA's office, we are able to offer more safety and reassurance to our neighbors in perfect alignment to our safety net mission. Not only was Lutheran Medical Center the first hospital to receive a Safe Stop designation, it registered nine of its community health center sites as well.

The Safe Stop program is an initiative launched by the District Attorney in order to provide a safe place for anyone to go if they need help in case of an emergency.

In reaction to recent sexual assaults, Lutheran has actively participated in efforts to help southwest Brooklyn residents stay safe, learn self-defense and be prepared. The designation of these Safe Stop facilities creates an added layer of security for community members. If anyone is being followed, has been attacked or feels unsafe in any way, we encourage them to come to Lutheran Medical Center or one of nine family health center sites that have been designated as Safe Stop facilities, and ask for help.

Lutheran has officially registered its main medical center site and nine community health centers; 10 total sites blanketing southwest Brooklyn from Sunset Park to Park Slope to Bay Ridge and to Church Avenue in Flatbush (see list below).
