Lutheran HealthCare has grown immensely since its humble beginnings in 1883 when Sister Elisabeth Fedde established the Norwegian Lutheran Deaconesses' Home and Hospital in Brooklyn. That nine-bed hospital grew into what we know today as Lutheran Medical Center. And it all started on Christmas Day in 1882, when Sister Fedde received a letter from her brother-in-law, challenging her to set up a ministry to serve struggling immigrants in New York City and the Brooklyn waterfront.
We've come a long way since that original letter. You can now find Lutheran articles, news, job postings, announcements, clinical expansions and health information on our website, on social media, channels, via email and more, all so you can dive deeper into Lutheran services than ever before.
It was only a few years ago when the best way to see what was new at Lutheran was to visit one of our local campuses, now you can connect in any way you prefer: subscribe to our news feeds, connect with us on LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook and more (see links below). We thought we'd let you know how to find us however works best for you! And you can still send us a letter too! Our mailing address is 150 55th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11220 (c/o External Affairs).
