LMC Executives Continue to Fight for Safety-Net Recognition in Affordable Care Act (ACA)

As we have reported, Lutheran execs are actively helping to educate our elected officials and community members about grave challenges looming ahead for safety-net hospitals. Safety-net hospitals and health care facilities like Lutheran, that treat a disproportionate share of our nation's uninsured, underinsured and uninsurable populations, are facing a potentially crippling loss of Medicare and Medicaid DSH funding -- an unintended consequence of the ACA.

Please see the latest Q and A with LHC CFO Rick Langfelder that will shed light on some of the issues we currently face. See the article, "Urban and Safety-net Hospitals Will Face Difficult Reimbursement Challenges," at http://bit.ly/QFnL9E. The article appears in Healthcare Finance News.

Lutheran SVP for Mission and Spiritual Care Rev. Don Stiger also spoke to The Christian Century on the same issues. Please see the informative article, "Health care up close, What else the Affordable Care Act does," at http://bit.ly/QFNQFW.

In related news please also see Wendy Z. Goldstein, LHC president and CEO, as she discusses ACA on WABC's "Tiempo" http://bit.ly/SlGAOp. Ms. Goldstein also addressed ACA recently in this The New York Times article http://bit.ly/712NYTnews.
