US-Caribbean HIV/AIDS Twinning Initiative

Lutheran Family Health Centers (LFHC) operate the US-Caribbean HIV/AIDS Twinning Initiative, which is funded under the Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS) part of the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (CARE) Act. SPNS grants assess the effectiveness of particular models of HIV/AIDS care, support innovative program design, and promote replication of effective models. The federal Health Resources and Services Administration selected Lutheran Family Health Centers as the only grantee in the nation for this program in August of 2003. Through the Twinning Initiative, LFHC works with a large, inclusive network of partners in the Caribbean to share best practices, increase primary care capacity, and build an infrastructure in the Caribbean to facilitate the provision of high-quality HIV/AIDS services throughout the region.

More information on this program can be found at www.uscaribbeantwinning.org, or by contacting Cheryl Hall, Vice President of Governmental and International Relations, at 718-940-4949
