care and support to patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

Diagnostic and Treatment Services Include:

• Neuropsychological evaluation and cognitive training (how the brain
  works in relationship
to behavior)

        • Neuro-optometry - for patients with low vision after

Meet our Team of Experts

 

Nada Abou-Fayssal, M.D., a board certified neurologist, joined Lutheran Medical Center in August 2010 to establish a comprehensive MS care center. She earned her medical degree from St. Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon and did her residency training in neurology at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Before joining Lutheran, she was director of the Multiple Sclerosis program at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Agnes Cappabianca, R.N., C.N.R.N., C.R.R.N., M.S.C.N., is a clinical nurse specialist and an MS certified nurse at Lutheran. Ms. Cappabianca has ample experience in the development of policies, documentation, program design and support group services. Her responsibilities include over-sight and education of the nursing team and the development of MS support program.
Ross Gourvitz, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist who specializes in rehabilitation psychology and clinical neuropsychology. Dr. Gourvitz did his internship at Mount Sinai Medical Center and completed postdoctoral training in Clinical Neuropsychology at Loyola University Medical Center. He held research and clinical positions at Bellevue, NYU Medical Center and the University of Chicago before joining Lutheran Medical Center in 2009.
Enza Navarra, P.T., D.P.T., is a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy. She completed a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy at Long Island University and her doctorate in Physical Therapy at Widener University. She served as a senior Physical Therapist at NYU-Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation, where she treated a large number of patients with neurological disorders including stroke, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease. Dr. Navarra is currently the Clinical Education Coordinator in the rehabilitation department at Lutheran Medical Center.
Natalya Lezhak, D.P.T., graduated with a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from the collage of Staten Island in 2001 and finished her Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy at the St. Scholastica College in 2009. She has worked at Lutheran Medical Center for nine years and currently holds the position of PT Manager in the Rehabilitation Department.
Romana Ahmad, O.T., is the Occupational Therapy manager at Lutheran Medical Center. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Occupational Therapy from McGill University in Canada and is currently enrolled in a Masters of Science Program in Education at Capella University. Ms. Ahmad served as a staff Occupational Therapist at Montreal Neurological Hospital and as a Senior Occupational Therapist at Maimonides Medical Center before joining Lutheran in 2008. She is experienced in treating patients with neurological diseases including spasticity and stroke.
Cynthia Gonzalez, L.C.S.W., has vast experience as a social worker and has worked at Lutheran HealthCare since 1994. She holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from CUNY, Hunter college and is the recipient of the Jacob Goldfein Award for Outstanding Scholarly and Creative Work. Her resume includes several personal recognitions and awards including New York City Pacesetter Award and Public Service Award.
Christine Lee, M.S., R.D., C.D.N., C.D.E., joined Lutheran Medical Center after completing a Masters Degree in Nutritional Studies at California State University. She is currently focused on the counseling of proper nutrition for multiple sclerosis patients.
