Lutheran Medical Center is proud to provide Brooklyn residents with a world-class Radiology Department that includes the latest technology and a team of dedicated, highly trained, caring professionals. The department employs radiologists with extensive clinical backgrounds and fellowship experience – in therapeutic and interventional radiology – who have performed milestone procedures such as stent placement, vertebroplasty, transhepatic internal porto-systemic shunting (TIPS) and fibroid embolization.
Lutheran has just completed a major renovation of its Radiology Department. We acquired several new pieces of equipment to provide the most advanced treatment options for our patients. The new Siemens AVANTO system includes advanced abdominal imaging, breast imaging and vascular imaging. It is the only MRI magnet in Brooklyn with state-of-the-art total imaging matrix (TIM) technology. Two new nuclear cameras with the most advanced imaging and resolution are also available to patients. A Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) has been installed. The addition of a modern ultrasound department featuring the latest technology for breast and small-parts imaging allows for better and clearer pictures of hard-to-examine areas. In addition, we are in the process of replacing the existing interventional radiology laboratory with a brand new state-of-the-art unit.
