The Department of Urology includes 24 highly trained and respected urologists who offer a variety of urological services including a comprehensive Prostate Cancer Treatment Center and Kidney Stone Center.
Available treatment methods for prostate cancer include laparoscopic (minimally-invasive) radical prostatectomy, brachytherapy (radioactive seed-implantation therapy), and state-of-the-art external beam radiation therapy. For patients whose cancer has advanced, our team of oncologists offers the latest chemotherapeutic options available.
Lutheran Medical Center's Kidney Stone Center is equipped with every treatment option available for kidney stones including non-invasive procedures such as Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL), the most advanced laser system available, which uses sound waves to break up kidney stones. Additionally, plans are underway to create a special metabolic clinic where patients can be evaluated and, if needed, put on a specialized diet or medication to prevent the recurrence of kidney stones.
