LMC's Cardiac Center Earns Praise
The May Ellen and Gerald Ritter Cardiology Center has recently earned some high praise from a very special person, its first elective PCI patient! Domenico Martinelli, pictured with his Lutheran caregivers, took a few minutes during his stay at LMC to thank the 4A, CCL, and nursing education RNs earlier this month. As you can see in the photo, everyone was pleased! Congratulations to the Cardiology Center team!
In 2005, Lutheran opened the catheterization laboratory to help patients detect heart disease with advanced diagnostic procedures and in 2009, the center received FDNY STEMI Center designation to perform emergency PCI. And most recently, the center received approval to perform elective angioplasty which completed its transition to a full service cardiac center right here at Lutheran.
Incidentally, the director of the Cardiology Center, R obert A. Zaloom M.D., is a prominent Bay Ridge native and will receive the Sister Elisabeth Fedde Medal of Service at this year's Anniversary Dinner Dance on May 8. For more information on the Dinner Dance, click here.
